Pepparpot put in an impressive front-running display to land the opener at Cork, the Family Day Out Maiden Hurdle, for the mother and son team of Mags and Danny Mullins.

The four-year-old son of Mountain High, who won an apprentice handicap over a mile and one at Gowran in May, made his second start over hurdles at Downpatrick last month.

He ran a cracker there to finish just a length behind Cracking Man, and he was sent off a 7/1 chance to go one place better this afternoon.

After leading from the start, he kicked on before the fourth last and he kept on well in the home straight to score by seven and a half lengths. Bridgequarter Girl ran well to take second at 16/1 under Paul Townend for John Kiely, while Tellherimhere (33/1) was a further length and a half back in third under Francis McCurtin for John Joe Walsh. Bach To Whitingbay was sent off the well-supported 5/4 favourite (was 2/1 this morning with Paddy Power), after he impressively won his second bumper over the course on his last start.

The Richard Morrissey trained gelding could only manage a disappointing sixth here on his hurdling debut, while the 2/1 second favourite, Great Jones finished fifth under Ruby Walsh for Willie Mullins

Mags Mullins said afterwards: "He ran over two miles and two the last day but I think he is more of a two miler. He is a big baby and he is growing away.

"We bred him ourselves and I’m delighted with him. We will keep going with him now."
