Slow-starting Chevillon (28/1) overcame another tardy start at Dundalk today when breaking her maiden tag at the seventh attempt in the Join Us On Instagram Nursery Handicap, under jockey Chris Hayes.
The daughter of Dragon Pulse was beaten all of 49.5L when blowing the start badly at today's venue 11 days and while slowly-into-stride again today, was at least able to keep in touch with the pack.
Chevillon quickened well in the home straight, improved to lead with a furlong to race and in the end scored a half-length win over Dha Leath
Afterwards winning trainer Eddie Lynam stated “she had been very disappointing. She was slowly away a number of times and half did it again today.
“We always thought she had some ability and didn’t think she was as bad as she was running. Thankfully she has gone and won today so she’s a two-year-old winner.
“She’s out of a good mare (New Magic) that was Stakes placed here for Dermot McLoughlin.”
