Sleepy Head prevailed in a bunch finish for the first division of the apprentice handicap at Dundalk this evenning.
There were plenty in with chances passing the furlong pole in the mile contest but Pat Flynn's filly stuck her head out in the closing stages to gain the day.
Robbie Downey 's mount had half a length to spare at the line with the judge having to split a line of three for the runner-up spot.
Crescendo got the second with a head back to Bouquet Garni in third and another head back to Mostawfee in fourth.
The winner was gaining her second career success having scored at Gowran last month and been third at Tipperary since.
“She handled the surface well and hit the line well. She’s a nice tough filly that’s improving and hopefully she stays going that way,” said Downey afterwards.
