Andrew Slattery edged two ahead in the apprentice riders’ title race when partnering Camachita to land the odds in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Median Auction Maiden at Dundalk.
Slattery is now two ahead of Oisin Orr (39-37) after the Johnny Murtagh-trained filly, just denied in a Fairyhouse nursery last time, readily justified strong support in this seven-furlong event.
The 4/5 favourite, backed on track from 11/10, travelled well to lead early in the straight and took control from over a furlong out to score by four and a quarter lengths.
Dinn Righ took the runner-up berth with Chica Boom Boom (80/1) showing much improved form on her first outing on the Polytrack finishing strongly just half a length further back in third.
Slattery said, “She’s a smart filly. I rode her the last day in Fairyhouse and I got caught too wide when I was drawn widest of the lot.
“Today she quickened up well when I asked her. She did the same the last day just a little too late.”
