Galileo-sired Sky Legend (3/1f) gained an overdue first career success today, landing Dundalk's Irishinjuredjockeys.com Claiming Race on his 18th racecourse outing.
The five-year-old had placed in seven of his previous outings, including three times this Winter Series, and today ridden by Joey Sheridan, was clear of his rivals a furlong out before comfortably holding stablemate Darkened by three lengths.
Winning trainer Denis Hogan reported "I wish there was more of these races and that was lovely tonight with the (top) grading being at 65, which gives us all somewhere to go with them.
“It was a big drop in class for Sky Legend. He's had a good few tries and deserved to get his head in front.
"He's been knocking on the door for the boys (Sky Legend Syndicate) who have him a year now. We thought he would do that a lot of nights and he hasn't.”
He added “there should be more of these races over jumps as well. I just don't know why there can't be more of them - everyone benefits from them.
"I'm sure there will be claims for him as he'll make a hurdler for someone in the summer.”
Sky Legend was indeed later claimed for €7,000, which along with the runner-up Darkened for €10,000, was bought by the TSM Racing Syndicate and will be trained by Noel Kelly.
