Ex-Willie Mullins inmate Sizing Tennesse gained his first win for trainer Henry De Bromhead at Navan today, winning the Follow Navan On Facebook Rated Hurdle for owners Ann and Alan Potts and jockey Jonathan Burke.
Sizing Tennesse won two bumpers and a maiden hurdle for Mullins in 2012/13 but then missed two full years through injury. Having his second start for De Bromhead today, the son of Robin Des Champs showed plenty of his old spark and a willing attitude when making all for a three parts of a length win over Bright New Dawn
Following the win, jockey Burke stated “he's quite hard on himself and likes to get on with things but jumped great.
“He loved bowling along in front and I was able to judge it from there. He was very good over the last three and answered every call from the back of the last hurdle; he never stopped galloping.
“On his early form, he was a very good horse and hopefully that's a sign he's on an upward curve.
“He has schooled over fences and he's very good but I'd say he'll stay over hurdles this year.”
