Sixteen Forty Two adds up to easy success
The Eoin Doyle-trained Sixteen Forty Two belied a lack of market confidence when taking the two miles JMR Tiles Maiden Hurdle in the hands of Shay Barry.
The 7/1 chance (from 9/2) soon put the race to bed after leading at the second last flight, stretching clear to beat 3/1 joint favourite Napa Starr by five lengths. Rudi Tuesday (12/1) was a half length further back in third.
Barry said: “I thought he wouldn't go on the ground. He needs good ground, although it's firm enough under the surface. He won well.”
