The Madeleine Tylicki trained Sirjack Thomas got off the mark at the fourth attempt when winning the opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Roscommon today, under jockey Bill Lee.
The son of Fast Company made virtually all for his three part of a length win over Himmah Himmah herself has been beaten by just four horses in four runs in as many recent months but cruelly, was also visiting the runner-up spot for a fourth time.
Tylicki later commented “he ran a cracker in the Curragh first time out and we were a little disappointed in Leopardstown but in hindsight we probably ran him back a bit too soon.
“We got him right for Gowran where he finished second and were very pleased. Today was very testing conditions but he’s only developing and is getting stronger with each run.
“He was late to come to us unbroken in February and he’s got a lot of catching up to do. I’m very happy with the way things are going with him, and certainly think he’ll be one for next year.
“Billy said it was very testing but he’s a very honest horse, and he kept at it.”
