Sirjack Thomas gained his first win for new connections when landing a gamble to win the Kilcawley Construction Sligo Rated Race at Sligo this evening, for trainer Johnny Murtagh, owner Qatar Racing Limited and under Champion Jockey Colin Keane.
The grey son of Fast Company was a useful maiden winner when trained by Madeleine Tylicki last year and having transferred to his new owner and trainer in recent months, was the well backed winner (5/2 this morning, in to 4/6f at the off) on his second start for Murtagh today.
Murtagh is on duty as a pundit on ITV at Royal Ascot this week and after the race jockey Keane said “Johnny’s horses are in flying form and this lads done it well today. Johnny said to keep it straight forward as he’s uncomplicated and handles an ease in the ground.
"He could step him up in trip if he wanted to, and I’m sure there is plenty of improvement.”
