Aidan O'Brien's Sir Lucan wore down Flying Visit close home in the median auction race over a mile in Cork after the latter had attempted to make all.

The 5/4 favourite was asked for his effort in fourth a quarter of a mile from home and he improved to second flashing past the furlong pole.

He kept finding for Colin Keane and got up to deprive the game Sir Lucan (7/2) by a neck. Kailash kept on in third at 10/3.

"He stayed at it well and to be fair we went a generous enough gallop for the race and he was as close as he could be the whole way around," Colin Keane said.

"He got to the line very well and you'd imagine he'd be a 1m2f or 1m4f horse next year. He is a good type and is well related, and you'd imagine he'd be a nice horse to look forward to."

This increased Keane's lead in the jockeys' title race to five over Shane Foley.
