Sioux Princess has enjoyed a tremendous run here in recent months and made it three wins from her last four starts when taking the Gateway Hotel Dundalk Race & Stay Apprentice Handicap to complete a quick double for trainer Michael O’Callaghan.
The application of blinkers has coincided with the winning run and she got a nice split between horses under two furlongs out in this 1m4f event.
The 18/5 shot responded well for Jamie Powell to get up in the closing stages for a neck verdict over Uberrima Fides with 7/2 favourite Maura’s Gift close up the same distance further back in third.
O'Callaghan said, "A mile and a half up here is her trip. I'd say she will probably get further in time.
"She is after winning three of her last four which is hard to do. She is staying inside that 65 bracket. Hopefully, she might stay in it. When she goes out of the 65 bracket, I might step her up in trip then.
"There might be a little bit of improvement to be found in her when she goes further, She stays very well. I'd say she may not be finished yet because she kind of keeps a little bit to herself.
"It was a messy sort of a race the way it worked out and he (Jamie Powell) did well to get her head in front where it mattered.
"Obviously, we have been spoilt with apprentices on her. The owners have a relationship with James Ryan and he has ridden her before now. He had to ride for Tom McCourt tonight, so we picked up Jamie and it was great."
O'Callaghan was also on the mark half-an-hour earlier with I Am Superman (7/2).
