Silk Mascara arrives late for unlikely win
The opening Irish Stallion Farms EBF Fillies Maiden at Cork today saw Silk Mascara under Wayne Lordan, arrive late to deny Moving Heart by a head, to provide a 999/1 in-running winner on Betfair.
Silk Mascara looked destined for third place a furlong out, and was matched at 1000 for E9 on Betfair, but stayed on strongly close home to deny Pat Smullen on Moving Heart.
Afterwards winning trainer David Wachman stated "Silk Mascara is a nice big filly but was very weak last year. She will be better over a trip and should make a stakes performer in time."
