Shirley off the mark after a break
On her first start for Jessica Harrington, Shirley Blake defied a lack of market confidence on her return from a 301 day break to win the opening Lynch's Bakery Fillies Maiden under Fran Berry at Listowel.
The Acclamation filly was placed on all three starts last year when with Ger Lyons and here she made smooth headway entering the straight and ultimately got to the front a hundred yards out before going on to outpoint Lucky Beguine by half a length.
Mrs Harrington said: "She had a setback in May and that's why she was a long time off. She did it well and she'll go on softer ground too. We have no plans."
