Shinrock Paddy impresses at Navan
The feature race of the day the Barry & Sandra Kelly Memorial Grade 1 Novice Hurdle saw an impressive winner in the Paul Nolan trained Shinrock Paddy after he ran out fifteen length winner.
Alain ‘Squeaky’ Cawley sent the son of Deploy to front entering the straight. The pair were soon clear and kept on well for an impressive win.
A delighted Nolan said afterwards: “We’ve always thought a lot of this horse and he showed us that today.”
“I was a little worried when they were leaving the back straight as Squeaky (Alain Cawley) was changing his hands on him."
"It was a brave thing of him to kick on approaching the straight but it worked out well.”
“The plan was always to come here and he jumped really well today. We will aim for Cheltenham Festival now."
"We’ll either go for the Neptune Investment Novice Hurdle or the Albert Bartlett.”
Sean Graham have quoted Shinrock Paddy as 10/1 favourite for the Neptune Investment Novice Hurdle and Paddy Power have quoted the Deploy gelding as 6/1 joint favourite for the Albert Bartlett.
