Shantou Show reeled in front-running Lar's Lass close home in the Glenview And Rathbarry Stud Novice Hunter Chase at Tipperary.
The winner, a son of Shantou, landed a point-to-point at Kirkistown in February and a maiden hunters' chase at Downpatrick last month for Sean McParlan and was making his first start for Noel Kelly.
Keen-going Lar's Lass raced clear under Barry O'Neill and put in a notable round of jumping. O'Neill gave her a breather in the home straight and the pursuers closed at the second-last.
Shantou Show moved into a threatening second at the final fence which the leader jumped well. Lar's Lass attempted to get away on the run-in, however, Shantou Show was ridden by Oran McGill to pick her up close home.
The 11/4 winner prevailed by a neck from the 6/1 runner-up. Brave Starlight was three and three-quarter lengths away in third at 11/1.
The winner sported a first-time tongue-strap.
McGill said: "He likes to come from off the pace and his jumping takes you into it as he is slick. He didn't appreciate the soft ground, but went through it.
"Sean and Noel McParlan had him, and Noel got him after the last day and he is a nice horse who hopefully will keep going forward."
