Shanahan shines on Atom
Pat Shanahan may be one of the senior members of the weigh room but he showed he is still riding at the top of his game aboard The Mighty Atom in the six-furlong maiden at Dundalk.
Shanahan was at work on his mount early in the straight but she knuckled down well for pressure.
The Tracey Collins-trained filly chased down Gala Spirit inside the final furlong to record a hard fought half length success.
"I'm very pleased. It's great to get a win with her as she's a very well-bred filly," said Collins.
"There's a possibility she might reappear on Saturday at the Curragh. We'll see how she comes out of this.
"My jockey is riding like a 20-year-old! I'm very pleased with him - he's like a man possessed."
