Tullybeg (4/1) notched a seventh success today, landing Wexford's Kehoe Agri & DIY Rated Novice Chase for trainer Gordon Elliott, jockey Davy Russell and owners Bective Stud.
Four horses lined up for the 2m4f contest, with 1/2f Upping The Ante leading before being passed entering the home straight by Tullybeg. The winning son of Sholokov stayed well to eventually beat Rambranlt'jac by three and three parts of a length.
Russell later said "I was happy enough to sit in behind for a bit of company. We didn’t really have a plan going out, it was just the way it went. It suited me though, and he jumped well throughout.
“Rachael’s horse (Blackmore, on Upping The Ante) battled well and I didn’t really want to get in a battle too early. We went on and winged the second last and was good at the last as well. He stays further and appreciated that nice ground."
