Seventeen year old Alan Casey partnered a winner on just his second ride today, as he steered Polemon (12/1) to score for his employer trainer Denis Hogan in Gowran's concluding Boylesports Supporting Irish Racing Handicap.
Casey's previous ride was on unplaced Edge Of Darkness at Limerick in June and today scored in exciting circumstances.
Holding 11-race maiden Polemon in rear-division on the inside, Casey went in pursuit of the leaders with two furlongs to race, and having organised a challenge for the final furlong, the gelding then battled well to score by a short-head from Jarvis Brook
Hogan trains Polemon for the Premier Racing Club and afterwards chuffed Casey commented “I'm delighted with him, it was a great run from him. I'm delighted to get one so early.
“I'm 17 and from Poulmucka near Cahir and I went to RACE. I have to thank Denis (Hogan) for giving me the ride and for giving me the opportunities to get started.”
