Backed from 6/4 into 11/10 on track (and from bigger earlier) Sebastian Bach pleased favourite backers when convincingly scoring in the Fyffes Maiden at Dundalk.
From his stall four draw Shane Kelly soon had Sebastian Bach dictating, and those forcing tactics took Michael O'Callaghan's charge all the way to a two and a half length win over Shinko Princess Cardigan Street was another to come in for market support — from 12s into 5s — and he filled the third spot, five lengths further back.
O'Callaghan said: "He wasn't fully wound up for tonight. I only decided last week to give him a run and see where we are at with him. He's a light-framed sort of horse and doesn't take much getting fit. I thought he would be a bit short of a run but wanted to get him started.
"He had the form in the book from last year, and this was a good opportunity. We might try and sell him. He would be an ideal horse for America after winning around here.
"There is about seven lads in the syndicate (the Amethyst grouping) and they are from Kerry, Dublin, Wexford and all sorts of places."
R.P. Cleary, rider of Shinko Princess trained by C.P.Donoghue, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount checked turning in.
N.G. McCullagh, rider of My Butterfly trained by Sabrina J. Harty, reported to the Clerk of Scales that his mount ran very green at the first bend.
M.C. Hussey, rider of Born On The Clyde trained by John Patrick Shanahan, reported to the Stewards' Secretaries that his mount was unable to hold its position on the run to the first bend.
