Sea sweeps away rivals
The Willie Austin trained Sea Of Erris caused a 25/1 (100/1 on the Tote) upset when getting the better of a tight finish to the Nick O’Donnell Memorial Handicap Hurdle at Wexford this evening.
Ridden by Declan Bates, the son of New Frontier outbattled Orange Touch and morning gamble Custodian (14/1 in the morning into 9/2).
Afterwards Austin stated “Sea Of Erris is a hell of a horse at home and works really well. He scoped badly after his last run and I’m glad he proved himself on a racecourse today. He’ll jump a fence in time but he’ll go the novice hurdling route now.”
