Lord Scoundrel put a sequence of four second placings behind him by landing the bumper at Clonmel for Gordon Elliott and Steven Clements.
Punters were not put off by his form figures and sent the Presenting gelding off a well-backed 11/8 favourite, although he needed a strong drive from Clements to prevail.
The front-running Golan Dancer rallied well in the final furlong and there was just three quarters of a length between them at the line, with Vedettariat a neck away in third.
Clements said, “He’s a proper horse but the trip is far too short for him. He wants decent ground and an obstacle in front of him."
