Scotsman flies home under Lordan
Flying Scotsman and Wayne Lordan win the Eventus Handicap

The Eventus 3-y-o Handicap saw Flying Scotsman (10/3 fav) relish the step-up in trip to record a three length victory over Dark Voyager
Unplaced in three starts for Aidan O’Brien last term, the Galileo colt joined Joseph O’Brien this year and cut no ice over 7f at Leopardstown last month.
Having never gone further than a mile, this first try at 12f saw the winner in a different light and Wayne Lordan’s mount came to challenge early in the straight and stayed on strongly for a decisive success.
The winner’s dam Iveagh Gardens was smart for Charles O’Brien and beat subsequent Arc winner Found in the Athasi Stakes at the Curragh in 2015.
Brendan Powell, assistant to winning trainer Joseph O’Brien, said: “He is by Galileo so the step up in trip suited and the bit of juice also helped; the ground was on the quick side over seven (furlongs) the last day.
"It wasn't the greatest race in the world but has got his head in front now; he is in tomorrow so we'll leave that to Joseph and see what he is like (in the morning). He is back over a mile tomorrow (entered in the 6.15 on Tuesday)."
