Ronan Whelan and Jessica Harrington teamed up successfully for the third time inside a week when Satin overcame a wide draw to easily win the Anglo Printers Remembering John H. Kierans Fillies & Mares Maiden at Listowel.
Despite being positioned on the very outside of the 10-runner field, Whelan had his mount away smartly, soon tracking the front running Feach Away.
Rory Cleary kicked for home on the latter off the home bend but Whelan always had him in his sights. Moving closer to draw level over a furlong out, Whelan went on inside the last quickening clear in impressive fashion.
An Irish Oaks entry, Satin looked better the further she went, a real positive should she indeed take up that Curragh engagement.
Winning jockey Ronan Whelan said: "the Harrington team obviously thought a lot of her to run her in a Listed race last year and she was ready to start off today. I spoke to Shane (Foley, stable jockey and finished fourth in today's Derby) and he said she was a nice filly who will improve from today.
"Whatever she did today was a bonus as I don't think the track saw her to best effect as she is a big filly. When she gets to a more convenient track it'll suit better and she is a typical one by Australia and galloped out to the line.
"I'm very grateful for the chances and to everybody who fills me in on these horses."
