Sassy Yet Classy the well backed 2/1 favourite, showed her battling qualities to prevail in the mares' maiden hurdle at Cork.
She was joined at the last by Westernerona but began to inch ahead on the run-in and found plenty for Keith Donoghue to score by three parts of a length. Darrens Diamond a 50/1 outsider, came home strongly for second with Westernerona (4/1) a neck away in third.
Gordon Elliott 's assistant Davy Condon said: "She was just a bit green first-time out but had plenty of schooling done at home. She is honest as the day is long and that two mile four furlongs is her trip.
"She'll be great fun for the lads for the summer and in time I'd say he'll step her up to three miles. She has a good pedigree and down the line I'd say she'll look for black-type."
