Sandhurst (11/4) stayed on well to take the Irish Stallion Farms EBF 2-y-o Race, wearing down the 9/4 favourite Flying Visit inside the final furlong to score by a length and a half.

The Galileo colt, trained by Aidan O’Brien, had made a promising debut when third at Leopardstown back in June but this was his first appearance since then.

He evidently stays a lot further then his Zoffany half-brother Washington DC who was a six-time winner over sprint trips, including at Listed and Group 3 level.

Winning rider Seamie Heffernan said: “It probably helped that they went at it in front of me.

"There was a good gallop on and I was a bit rusty. He got the trip well.”
