Samuel wins Marble Stakes
It was a thrilling finish to the T.P Waters EBF Marble Hill Stakes with Aidan O’Brien’s charge Samuel Morse just getting up in the closing stages.
Johnny Murtagh who took the riding honours chased leaders, before moving through to challenge Purple Glow for the lead over a furlong out.
The 9/4 favourite kept on well under a strong drive to just get up close home and score by a neck.
The winner had to survive a Stewards Enquiry as he slightly hampered the runner-up close home.
Winning trainer O’Brien said afterwards: “I’m delighted with the two of them [O’Brien also saddled the third home].”
“We will now have a look at the Conventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and the Albany Stakes for the filly [So Stylish].”
“It was nice to see them break a minute as very few do that up here.”
