Russell completes Killarney double
Paul Flynn’s good run continued when Archie Boy made it a front running performance to land the www.themalton.com Chase in the hands of Davy Russell.
Russell was soon in front aboard the son of Bassanta and the pair were strongly pressed by the Lucky Wish entering the straight but the pair kept on strongly from the last to record a three length win.
Their victory was made easier after Lucky Wish made a mess of the second last.
Winning trainer Flynn said afterwards: “We were going to go for the handicap here tomorrow but he was entitled to win this race today.”
“The ground was way too soft for him at Punchestown and this is the first time this year he’s got his trip and ground.”
“We will keep him going throughout the Summer and try find similar type races for him.”
