Trainer Henry De Bromhead and Champion Jockey Davy Russell combined for a double at Limerick today when their Classic Theatre landed the Cliona Hagan Plays 26th July Beginners Chase.
The pair had earlier combined to win with One In All In and Classic Theatre today registered his own third career success, and in the process completed her own bumper/maiden hurdle/beginners chase 'treble'.
Classic Theatre was today beating stablemate Schmidt and afterwards De Bromhead said "it was a great ride from Davy and she jumped really well and obviously just loves that ground. We were disappointed with her last winter and even though she won on soft ground at Listowel, she regressed after that and she is by King's Theatre and she seems to love that better ground.
"Hopefully there's be more chases to be won with her now and you'd love to get black-type but we're a long way from that on ratings. You never know though and if she could get her ground on the day she might get it somewhere."
"Schmidt (runner-up) ran well but jumped a bit novicey and he needed the run for experience. I think he wants further and we'll look for a 2m4f similar contest next."
