Ruby completes Downpatrick double
Jockey Ruby Walsh is rarely outdone and he equalled his namesake Mark Walsh's earlier double, with a double of his own at Downpatrick today, completing the brace on the Tony Martin trained Millanymare in the Dale Farm Milk Handicap Chase.
Walsh was his trademark patient brilliant best on Millanymare, and was arriving to challenge front-running Randoon Hill when that rival exited the race at the second last fence. Walsh eventually steered the mare to a 17 lengths win.
Afterwards Martin reported “Ruby is Ruby and that is why I get him to ride for me.”
He added “Millanymare looked promising a few years ago but has had her problems. However that was a grand performance and hopefully she can come back to her best again now.”
