Jarlath Fahey trained his first winner since last month’s heroics in the Ascot Stakes at Royal Ascot with Jennies Jewel, as his The Rite Article landed the Monart Destination Spa Ladies Evening Handicap Hurdle (division 1) at Wexford today.
Ridden by Ian McCarthy, the son of Definite Article was winning for the first time on his 13th career attempt and following the race, Fahey stated “he’s an honest auld devil and that's his level. He has been knocking on the door for a good while trying to win one of those and that's probably as good as he is.
"We will step him up to 102 or 109 again and see how he gets on and if he starts to struggle over hurdles we’ll send him novice chasing.
"He was due to run in Kilbeggan last Friday night but it turned too soft and we took him out as needs it on the quick side of good. Being a Definite Article he can't operate with a cut in it at all."
Peggy and Eamonn Kelly bred the winner and they were present for the success.
