Newcomer Round Two put in an impressive display on debut as he beat the odds-on favourite Argentero in the Fishery Lane Race.
The Jim Bolger trained victor was available at 9/2 last night but he was well-backed throughout the day and opened on-course at 11/4 before going off the 3/1 second favourite.
Settled in mid-division under Kevin Manning he improved to track the leaders before halfway.
He came with his challenge on the outer from two furlongs out and hit the front with less than 150 yards to race, going on from there to score by a length and a quarter in the famous Godolphin blue silks.
Argentero, who was sent off the 9/10 favourite, had to settle for second under Colin Keane for Ger Lyons while Waterloo Bridge (5/1 to 4/1 on-course) was a further length and a half back in third.
Jim Bolger said in the aftermath: "He's very straight-forward and a quick learner. I'm looking on him as a Coventry horse.
"I think he'll go on any ground. I wouldn't be too worried if he ran again (before Ascot). If it happens it happens."
STEWARDS REPORTS
The Stewards fined A. Oliver, trainer, €350 for lodging a passport in respect of Collision Course in which the vaccinations did not conform with the provisions of Rule 91. The Stewards allowed the horse to run on receipt of the trainer's written assurance that the vaccinations were in order.
The Turf Club Veterinary Officer reported to the Stewards that Ni Dom trained by Adrian Paul Keatley was lame post race.
