The Aidan O’Brien trained Wild Irish Rose erased memories of an unlucky-in-running third placing at Fairyhouse in June, when winning over the same course and distance today, as the daughter of Galileo shed her maiden status at the ninth attempt, in the La Bucca Restaurants Handicap.
Previously unsuccessful in eight runs, Wild Irish Rose met trouble in-running when finishing third over today's 1m4f trip in June but atoned for that defeat today as jockey O'Brien kept the filly going, under hands and heels, for a half length win over Bold Knight
The winner was bred by also bred by trainer O’Brien’s own Whisperview Trading Ltd and following today's win, Ana O’Brien said “she is a bit quirky as she doesn’t like to be hit, but is tough and game. She tries hard and it’s great to get a win with her.”
