Poli Roi justified his short price when running out a cosy winner of the beginners chase at Fairyhouse this afternoon.
Gordon Elliott 's charge was sent to post an 8/11 shot for his first outing over fences and duly obliged,
The Gigginstown gelding tracked the leaders in the two-mile-five contest before jumping into the lead three from home.
Jack Kennedy asked his mount to quicken away between the last two fences and he soon asserted. The Poliglote gelding had four-and-three-quarter lengths to spare over Cherokee Bill at the line.
Poli Roi had finished third to Fayonagh in the Grade 1 bumper at Punchestown a couple of seasons ago but had proven a bit disappointing over timber last season.
Elliott said:- “He was entitled to win that on ratings. Jack said he quickened up at the back of the second last and he’s having a good blow there now. He’ll come on from it and we’ll try and find something small for him.
“He was a bit behind the bridle early but he was the good the further he went. It was his first time on grass, and I was happy with him.”
