Rock off mark in style
Burma Rock got off the mark over timber in good style when claiming the opening maiden hurdle at Kilbeggan.
Andrew Leigh always had the 7/2 shot handy and he hit the front soon after the fourth last.
Willie Austin 's charge kicked on from the next flight and soon settled matters, coming home a cosy 10-length winner over 6/5 favourite In A Nutshell
"He would probably have done it here a month ago when he was brought down," said Austin afterwards.
"He found Tramore very tight last time and was slipping coming around the last bend.
"He won handy enough today and he could go for a novice hurdle now. He'll handle heavy ground and will run a few more times before we give him a break.
"He jumped very well today and was quick over them."
Gary Carson
