Roberto gets off mark over fences

Sun 13th Dec 2009, 12:43

Roberto Goldback opened up his account over fences in good style when taking the opening Larry Rowan Memorial Beginners Chase.

Robert Power sent his mount to the front before three out and the pair were joined by the 8/11 favourite Cousin Vinny jumping the second last fence.

Roberto Goldback was in front again at the last and kept on well for a four length win over the favourite.

Winning trainer Jessie Harrington said afterwards: “I thought we were going to go close in the Drinmore before he fell.”

“We might miss Christmas now as he’s had three very close races and we had to comeback here today because things hadn’t gone right for him.”

“I’m thrilled with him and he jumped brilliantly and in time I think he’ll get three miles. As regard plans we’ll just have to wait and see.”

Paddy Power quote the winner at 20/1 for the RSA Chase at Cheltenham.
