River too strong for Esprit
Coole River proved a tough nut when turning over hotpot Quel Esprit in the Grade 2 novice hurdle at Leopardstown.
Barry Geraghty 's mount improved to challenge the 30/100 favourite before the last and ground him down on the run-in for a half-length victory.
"He improved a lot in his jumping from Punchestown," said Emma Harrington, representing her trainer mother Jessica.
"He ws unlucky as he was due to run a few times when the racing was cancelled.
"I'm absolutely thrilled with his jumping today and it's great to have another winner. Barry said he thought he improved a lot since the last day."
