Red-hot Mullins strikes with Medal
Monthly Medal has previously scored in the colours of Michael Keating and P J O'Connell and he gained the fourth success of his career in the ownership of his very much in-form trainer, Tony Mullins, in the Blue Thunder Fast Foods Claiming Race.
Tony's son Danny got the 10/1 winner to the front under two furlongs out and despite looking around him a bit, the seven-year-old (in with a claiming price of €12,000) fended off favourite, Maal by three and a half lengths.
Mullins senior said: "We've learned that if you give him a chance early on and let him get into a rhythm it really suits him. He's in again at Leopardstown on Thursday. I'd like to go to Galway too over seven furlongs or a mile."
There were no claims.
