Pharrihy managed one win from thirteen starts, that success coming at the Listowel Festival nine years back. Her Oscar-sired son, Red Cert will surely better that achievement if his success in the opening Kilbeggan Maiden Hurdle is anything to go by.

Andrew McNamara 's mount was going to win this two miler barring accidents from before the third last and he eventually strode home six lengths in front of Smiling Lady (backed at fancy prices) with two lengths back to the disappointing favourite Celestial Prospect in third.

McNamara rode the eight to one shot for Tom Taaffe and owners David Kavanagh and Maurice Clifford.

Many will remember the silks from the Willie Mullins-trained Tango Foxtrot in the past.

McNamara said: "He won well. I could have done without being taken on as I was hoping to get out on my own.

"He settled well in second though and he jumped everything well bar the last.

"The ground is good and he liked it. He's a big long-striding horse." (GC & EM)
