Red Calima blows away rivals
A relieved looking trainer Paul Nolan sees his Red Calima win at Wexford

The Paul Nolan trained Red Calima justified strong support (3/1 - 2/1f) to win the Mount Leinster Maiden Hurdle at Wexford today, scoring at the eighth attempt over jumps.
The son of Shirocco raced prominently before taking up the running with a circuit to race, before staying on well from two out to comfortably defeat Daisyanabelle by seven and a half lengths.
Nolan later stated “all in all he has been a bit of a disappointing horse – he won a Leopardstown maiden for John Oxx but he didn't materialise into what we thought he would be and that's why he is running during the summer.
“He has a mark of 115 which is probably fair enough. We went for this maiden hurdle, as opposed to the other four year old one, as this looked a weaker race.”
