Race two at Dundalk, the Irishinjuredjockeys.com Handicap saw Johnny Feane bid for a double on the card with strong 10/11 favourite Tom Dooley He was unfortunate to lose out to another well-backed runner, Rateel
Gary Carroll had to switch Tom Dooley to get into the clear in the final quarter mile, at which stage Rateel (came in for market support this morning into a returned 6/1) was making the best of his way home.
In the end the Ronan Whelan-ridden Rateel held on by a head.
Winning trainer Johnny Levins said: "With the good weather recently I've been able to get him out in the paddock. The last four or five days he's really come to himself. The drop in grade also helped."
The successful Anglo-Italian Partnership is Anthony Kaminskas (from Rochdale but working as an odds compiler for Paddy Power in Dublin) and Andrea Mandelci, who works in the city in London. Their silks are those of the Rochdale football club.
