Mr Rango was the well supported (morning 50/1, returned 14s) winner of the Curragh's 26-runner Play Novileague At Novibet Handicap today, scoring for trainer Ross O'Sullivan, jockey Siobhan Rutledge and owners Jason Harney and Paul Brophy.
Rutledge produced the four year old gelding from mid-field to lead inside the final furlong, beating Lucky Queen by three and a half lengths.
O'Sullivan was a the Newmarket horses in training sale and afterwards his wife Katie Walsh said “he ran a bit keen here the last day but he’s tough and loves the ground.
“He’s very gutsy and he’ll probably jump a hurdle as he handles that ground so well.”
She added “Tom Harney works for Ross and Tom's uncles own the horse so it’s a bit of a family thing. Tom is going out with Siobhan so it couldn’t be more in-house and that’s Siobhan’s first winner at the Curragh.”
