Rajik pounces late in Oyster
Rajik grabbed glory in the dying strides when landing the Ardilaun Hotel Oyster Stakes at Galway under Declan McDonogh. Address Unknown made a brave effort to make all the running in the Listed event and still had the advantage entering the final furlong.
Charlie Swan 's charge flew home in the closing stages, however, and got his nose in front in the shadow of the post for a head success.
It was a double on the card for McDonogh, who had also claimed the opener aboard The Silver Crown
"He's a tough little devil. It's hard to give weight away to the three-year-olds but it helps that he likes the course," said Swan afterwards.
"Of all the places to take on the three-year-olds it was here. He really battles up that hill.
"It possible that he might get an entry for the Doncaster Cup but it's in nine or ten days time and he had a hard race there and at the Curragh so we'll see.
"We might leave hurdling until next season. We can go hurdling anytime. He might have one more run and then get a break."
