Dubai Rainbow made it third time lucky when getting off the mark in the claiming maiden at Dundalk this evening.
The Tamayuz filly finished runner-up at Navan on her most recent outing and went one better today for trainer Eddie Lynam.
Robbie Downey had the 5/2 favourite to the fore throughout in the seven-furlong contest and she stayed on strongly in the closing stages to post a length-and-a-quarter success.
“I told Robbie to keep it simple as she's straight-forward,” said Lynam.
“I knew Sonny (Acham) was coming over, he's been with me 30 years and is a proper owner to have. I've trained him a few winners but never a star. He's a lovely man to train for and is based in Trinidad.
“When we knew he was coming over we had to try and arrange to hit he scoreboard somewhere. This looked an obvious race for her.
“She's won so it's mission accomplished.”
The winner was claimed back by the owner.
