Fly De Megaudais made the most of his bottom-weight impost to blitz his rivals in the Jim Ryan Racecourse Services Handicap Chase at Tipperary.
Gaining a third career success for Michael McDonagh, the 20/1 scorer didn’t need the 7Ib pound allowance of jockey Cian Quirke at all, given that he slammed runner-up A Mere Bagatelle by all of seventeen lengths.
“He did it well and is a nice little horse when things go his way. Sometimes he’s not right but he jumped well today and won well,” said McDonagh.
“My grandson Mark normally rides him but he got hurt during the week. Cian gave him a good ride.”
This was a first win over fences for Quirke.
