The John Geoghegan trained Queluz gained a third career success at Dundalk today, as the landed the Sean Judge Memorial Handicap under jockey Gary Halpin.
The five year old son of Bushranger won successive handicaps at Cork and Gowran last June and today got off the mark on his second start for 2018 when beating Saga Altais by three parts of a length.
Halpin later said: "he travels a bit in snatches but his run the last day was encouraging enough.
"John (Geoghegan) does a good job with his horses. I've been with him a while and he has been good to me and loyal. He places them well and he (Queluz) was in great shape.
"After the last day I thought stepping up a furlong and a bit more competitive race might bring him a bit further.
"You can't forget he was running well over a mile and a quarter and a mile and a half last winter. He stays a mile and a quarter and can go up in trip when we want him to."
