Ten pound claimer Ian Queally was heartbreakingly denied his first winner when his mount Blistering Dancer was short-headed by Paynes Find (6s into 9/2) in the Ladies Day 23rd June At Gowran Park Handicap.
Queally tried to make all on Blistering Dancer (got in as a reserve) but Paynes Find over-powered him close home to score for Mrs Jacqueline O'Brien and her trainer son Charles.
Fran Berry rode the victorious Holy Roman Emperor gelding and he disclosed: "The drop in trip helped him (ran over a mile at Naas, this was seven furlongs). He was a bit green from two furlongs out but he knuckled down well."
Favourite Neophilia was squeezed for room early and she ended up coming home quite well for fourth. (DM & EM)
