You Can’t Catch Me lived up to his name when putting up a commanding performance from the front to land the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Hurdle at Killarney.
Trained by Keiran Purcell for his daughter Elaine, the ten-year-old gelding soon built up a clear lead and his seven rivals could make no impression in the straight.
Cathal Landers was still sitting pretty as the other riders were working away before two out, and the 12/1 chance stayed on strongly for a convincing win. Court Tycoon was all of 12 lengths back in second, with Scotch Quay a further length and a half adrift in third.
Kieran Purcell said, “We weren’t expecting that although having said that he always works well and runs well when he is fresh.
“We’ll give him a break now for a couple of weeks and find something for him.”
