Punters off to a flier in opener
John Oxx and Michael Kinane teamed up to take the opening seven furlong maiden at Gowran Park this evening as Tarankali justified favouritism in fine style.
The Selkirk gelding, supported from 13/8 in to 11/8, made virtually all the running and drew clear in the final furlong to beat chief market rival Grandiflora (13/8) by six lengths.
Oxx's assistant Jimmy O'Neill said afterwards, 'He was a little bit disappointing at Roscommon last month but appreciated the easier ground today. He'll go for a handicap over a mile.'
