For the second race in succession at Dundalk we had an easy winner as Punk Poet (well-backed 11/4 favourite) took apart the field in the BetVictor Gamble Responsibly Apprentice Handicap.
He did this from the front under Shane Crosse, who judged it to a nicety, and Eddie Lynam’s runner was unlikely to be caught from some way out.
In the end the Power gelding, owned by Lynam’s wife, Aileen, crossed the line six lengths to the good from Leabaland
“Obviously he was very impressive. I spoke to Eddie beforehand and he told me he was a lovely horse,” said Crosse.
“He told me he was straight-forward and to let him bounce out in front. He did it well.
“I got it handy enough, no-one else wanted to come with me, so I was happy and the horse was great for me.”
