Gary Carson
Publican powers to hurdle success
Sligo Publican powered home to open her account over timber in the mares maiden hurdle at Clonmel.
John Joe Walsh's charge hit the front turning for home in the two-and-a-half mile contest and kept up a strong gallop in the closing stages.
Philip Enright kept the Beneficial mare up to her work over the last two flights to post a comprehensive nine-and-a-half length victory over Evesham Star
The winner had finished runner-up on her debut over hurdles at Limerick last month and the point-to-point recruit was making it two from three on the track having landed a Tipperary bumper back in May.
"She'll go to Limerick next. She stays well and jumps well," said Walsh, who rushed off to saddle his runner in the next race.
